2. Pay attention in class.
Ask kids to avoid from their friends that distract and put away stuff that distracts kids’ attention to math lesson. As kids will not going to get any better at math if they don’t pay attention, no listen and don’t know what’s going on in the lesson. Listen and pay full attention to what the teacher is saying during math lesson.
3. Participate.
Kids are encouraged to participate in class discussion, even if the kids don’t really know the answer to a question, they still can surely make an educated guess. During the process the kids could exposed to various kind of methods towards solving that particular type of questions. If they get wrong, then the kids will able to learn the math solving process from their friends or from the teachers.
4. Practicing
Math is a subject which demands constant practice, whereas many kids run away from practicing. Always remember “Practice Makes A Man Perfect”. So spend a lot of time practicing, as not doing a topic for one or two weeks will make the kids forget the concept that lay behind math questions. This may not be true with basic math, but with further math, applications of math (such as statistics and fractions), lack of practice will really ruin the kids’ chances at solving a math problem.
5. Memorize Multiplication Tables
It’s important to understand the underlying concepts in math, but sometimes kids need to rely on memorization as well. For some things, such as multiplication tables, it is much better if they could practice until they know them by heart. Use flash cards or have somebody quiz them. You may be able to use mnemonic devices–phrases or abbreviations that to help in kids memory recall–to remember more complicated formulas. Or you make up your own to suit your kids’ way of memorizing.
6. Homework Review
Always encourage the kids to review their graded homework assignments when they are returned to the kids. It is important to try to figure out where they went wrong, in order to understand a particular math concept in detail and also avoid recurring same mistake again in future. As we all know that, math questions can be easily modified based on same math concepts or formula. If the kids still don’t understand, then they may ask teacher’s help to review their math problems.
I really hope that this will give you some hints on how to help your kid easily and quickly solve their math problems. Remember always encourage your kid to participate in the class in order to understand math concepts in detail and make sure that your kid review their graded homework or assignments at home. |
