“If You Want To Know How To Teach Math Place Value, Then You Must Know The Math Place Value Well”.
Want to learn how to *really* (I’m not talking hype here, I mean *really!*) learn how to teach math place value? Then stay with me with this teaching math place value – this short story is important…
First provide 6 dice and 6 paper plates. Each plate is labeled as shown.
Kids are divided into groups of four or five.
Each group is given a set of the dice and paper plates.
Each kid takes turn to throw the dice on the plates.
Kids are required to write the number created and stated the place value of each digit both orally and written.
Then show the kids with place value charts below.

Ask the kids to get familiar with place value above by reading out the place value loudly.
Then try with another example.
