Simple does GED Fraction Division

Simple does GED Fraction Division

Simple, my friend, used to have difficulty with dividing fractions. He hates complexity and refuses to do complex problems. This didn’t help his test scores.

One day I sat Simple down and explained that he needed a guide for mathematics. This guide would show him how to do math. The guide wouldn’t care if Simple was smart or stupid. The guide would just tell him how to do it.

Once again mnemonics came to help.

Mnemonics for fraction division:

Ours is not to reason why; just invert and multiply!

Then Flip the Divisor and Multiply entered his life.

Given the follow division problem here are steps Simple uses.

3 ? 4 ÷ 1 ? 2 The problem. 3 ? 4 ÷ 2 ? 1 ÷ Flip the divisor. 3 ? 4 ÷ 2 ? 1 = 6 ? 4 = 3 ? 2 Multiply numerator and denominator and reduce.

Remember to only flip the divisor, not the number you are dividing into! Simple find GED math easier when he can recall the information he needs to do math with. I myself prefer visual images but Simple like verbal though he will use visual mnemonics.

Stay tuned for further adventures as Simple rides forth to slay the GED test dragon allowing important time to be spent on TV instead of GED study. Mnemonic will overcome the most complex equation. It will handle memory and recall leaving you to just think!

Take Simple with you when you go to the test. No one will notice you talking to Simple mentally. As Yogi of cartoon fame would say, “You’re smarter than the average bear!”
