How To Open Your Locked Doors of Place Value With Place Value Activities — Right Place. Right Time. Right Now. If you’ve ever struggled with place value of numbers, you’re in the right place. And I’m here to help you. That’s because I’ve developed a powerful place value activities that will make your life in understanding place value a lot easier.  .         Prepare digit cards from 0 to 9, like the picture below. Then prepare place  value cards (ones to millions). Then prepare number cards just like following. First ask a group of 7 pupils to stand side by side in a row in front of the class. Each pupil will hold a place value card. Place a chair between the hundreds and the thousands place, and between the hundred thousands and the million place, to show a space in between the place values. Put up the number card 7 592 406 and say the number aloud. Each “place value kid” chooses the correct digit card. Each of them raises up the card and shows the digit to the class. Ask the kids with the following questions. What is the number formed? (7 592 406) What is the place value of the digit 5? (Hundred thousands) What is the value of the digit 5? (5 hundred thousands) Proceed with other kids in the number  7 592 406. Repeat with other seven digit numbers and different groups of “place value kids”.           I am sure with this place value activity you could understand better with place value of numbers.
