For kids who still have not mastered basic multiplication facts have them build the basic facts multiplication tables first. Multiplication Math Lesson on Multiply 2 digit Number By 1 Digit Number. First shows how to multiply 2-digit number by a 1-digit number, e.g. 17 × 2   Write the number sentence in a place value chart. First multiply the digit in the tens place 1 ten × 2 = 2 tens   Next, multiply the digit in the ones place. 7 ones × 2 = 14 ones 14 one is 1 ten 4 ones.   Finally, add the two numbers. 20 + 14 = 34 so, 17 × 2 = 34 Have fun together in this process. It’s always a good review and opportunity for the kids to exercise their brains.
