Kids Learning Multiplication Lesson

Learning multiplication is an essential part of kids’s elementary education. Knowing multiplication facts is helpful not only in academics; but also in daily lives. We might need it when doubling a recipe, determining a discount at a store or figuring out our expected arrival time when traveling. Knowing the times tables can help simple tasks to be performed rapidly and save time and stress.

However kids are reading words before they start school, but not math. Why?

Just because math has its own unique language to kids and the more they are when exposed to it, the more fluent they will be.

Kids who have not mastered multiplication will very often fall behind in math (and other subjects that use math) and begin to loose confidence.

That is why it is important to know how kids learn multiplication.

First, kids need to master basic multiplication facts to be able to do multiplication well. For kids who still have not mastered basic multiplication facts have them build the basic multiplication facts tables first.

Kids Learning Multiplication Lesson on Multiplication of 1 & 2 Digit Numbers By 10 & 11.

First shows multiplication of 1 and 2 digit numbers by 10 and 11.

To multiply any one digit number by 10 you only need to add a zero, e.g.

10 x 2 = 20

9 x 10 = 90

To multiply any one digit number by 11, you only need to rewrite that digit twice,

11 x 4 = 44

7 x 11 = 77

To multiply any one digit number by multiples of ten (10, 20, 30, 40, ….., 90), the product is the basic multiplication fact for that number with the digit that is not zero, then place  zero at the ones digit, e.g.

30 x 5 = 150

6 x 80 = 480

Math multiplication are subconscious elements in work, play and daily chores. Knowing the multiplication well can help simple tasks to be performed rapidly and save time and stress.
