Fractions Integer
Learning factoring an integer is important in the process simplifying or reducing fractions.
What is factor? Factor is a number that divides evenly into another, where the product of these numbers is equals to the original number.
Tips: The
number 1 is the factor of every number. All factors of a number can be divided evenly into that number.
Example 1:
Factor of number 2.
As 2 x 1 = 2, the factors of 2 are 2 and 1.
Example 2:
Factor of number 3.
As 3 x 1 = 3, the factors of 3 are 3 and 1.
Example 3:
Factor of number 4.
As 4 x 1 = 4 and 2 x 2 = 4, the factors of 4 are 4, 2 and 1.
Example 4:
Factor of number 5.
As 5 x 1 = 5, the factors of 5 are 5 and 1.
Example 5:
Factor of number 6.
As 6 x 1 = 6 and 2 x 3 = 6, the factors of 6 are 6, 3, 2 and 1.
Example 6:
Factor of number 9.
As 9 x 1 = 9 and 3 x 3 = 9, the factors of 9 are 9, 3 and 1.
Example 7:
Factor of number 12.
As 12 x 1 = 12 and 3 x 4 = 12 and 2 x 6 = 12, the factors of 12 are 12, 6, 4, 3, 2 and 1.
Example 8:
Factor of number 24.
As 24 x 1 = 24 and 12 x 2 = 24 and 3 x 8 = 24 and 6 x 4 = 24,
the factors of 24 are 24, 12, 8, 3, 2and 1.
Example 9:
Factor of number 56.
As 56 x 1 = 56 and 28 x 2 = 56 and 14 x 4 = 56 and 7 x 8 = 56,
the factors of 56 are 56, 28, 14, 8, 7, 4, 2and 1.
Now let us learn how to find common factor of two numbers.
But what is Common Factor?
When two numbers have the same factor it is called common factor, whereby both numbers can divided evenly by that factor.
Example 1:
Factor of number 12 and 6.The factor of 12 are 12, 6, 4, 3, 2 and 1 as refer to example 7 above.
The factors of 6 are 6, 3, 2 and 1 as refer to example 5 above.
The common factor of number 12 and 6 are 6, 3, 2 and 1.
Example 2:
Factor of number 9 and 12.The factors of 9 are 9, 3 and 1 as refer to example 7 above.
The factor of 12 are 12, 6, 4, 3, 2 and 1 as refer to example 7 above.
The common factor of number 9 and 12 are 3 and 1.
Example 3:
Factor of number 4 and 8.The factors of 4 are 4, 2 and 1.
The factors of 8 are 8, 4, 2 and 1.
The common factor of number 4 and 8 are 4, 2 and 1.
Example 4:
Factor of number 15 and 30.The factors of 15 are 15, 5, 3 and 1.
The factors of 30 are 30, 15, 10, 6, 5, 3, 2 and 1.
The common factor of number 15, 5, 3 and 1.
