Fractions Decimals and Percents
First poses the hundred-square paper grid to show the conversion of
mixed numbers to percentage.

Step 1
• Explains on how to convert mixed number to percentage
using diagrams.
• Asks the kids to add these two diagrams in percentage.
• A few kids come to the front of the class to answer the question.

Method 1 (Compute mixed number to whole number and fraction)
• Teacher shows the solution to the kids.

• Displays some flashcards.
• Kids give their answers spontaneously in the form of percentage.

Method 2 (Multiply with 100)

Solution

Let the kids know that mixed numbers have to be converted to improper
fraction first.

* To get a percentage from improper fraction, the denominator has to be 100.

Convert percentage to mixed number.
• Explains on how to convert percentage to mixed numbers to
the kids.

Displays some flashcards.
Kids give their answers spontaneously in the form of mixed number.
