Here I’m about to teach you a math formula of dividing decimals that guarantees to success of learning decimals in math.


The decimal numbering system uses ten symbols called digits, each digit representing a number in math.

These symbols are 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9. The symbols are known as the numbers zero, one, two, three, etc.

By using combinations of 10 symbols, an infinite amount of numbers can be created in math.

Decimal fractions are commonly expressed without a denominator, the decimal separator being inserted into the numerator (with leading zeros added if needed), at the position from the right corresponding to the power of ten of the denominator in math.

e.g., 8/10, 83/100, 83/1000, and 8/10000 are expressed as: 0.8, 0.83, 0.083, and 0.0008.

Decimals are divided the same way you divided whole numbers earlier in the text, but with one
additional step: The decimal point must be located in the proper place in the quotient.

Quotient is the answer you get when you divide.
The decimal point must be accurately located for the quotient to he correct.
The only difference between the numbers 102.50 and 10.250, is the location of the decimal point.
But if you were getting $10.25 pay instead of $102.50, you would consider the location of that decimal
point very important.

If the divisor is not a whole number, move decimal point to right to make it a whole number and move decimal point in dividend the same number of places.

Put the decimal point directly above decimal point in the dividend.

Divide as usual. Keep dividing until the answer terminates or repeats.
