Decimal fractions are commonly expressed without a denominator, the decimal separator being inserted into the numerator (with leading zeros added if needed), at the position from the right corresponding to the power of ten of the denominator.
e.g., 8/10, 83/100, 83/1000, and 8/10000 are expressed as: 0.8, 0.83, 0.083, and 0.0008.
Converting Fractions To Decimals
Step 1
First introduces the concept of decimal using Diene’s block.

Step 2
Next introduces the concept of decimals using hundred squares.

Step 3
Then shows the concept of decimal numbers using thousand squares.

We can also write as 0.007. We say it as seven thousandths.
Example 2:

We can also write as 0.050. We say it as fifty thousandths.
Example 3:
Convert fractions of thousandths to decimal numbers.

Example 4
Convert decimal numbers to fractions using place value chart.
i) Convert 0.302 to fractions.

The answer is three hundred and two thousandths.
ii) Convert 0.008 to fractions.

The answer is eight over one thousand / eight one thousandths.
