734 + 69 = ?
Rewrite the number sentence in a place value chart
734 = 700 + 30 + 4
= 7 hundreds + 3 tens + 4 ones
69 = 60 + 9
= 6 tens + 9 ones
Add the ones:
4 ones+ 9 ones = 13 ones
= 1 tens 3 ones
(Write the digits 1 and 3 in the tens and ones place value respectively)
Add the tens:
3 tens + 6 tens + 1 tens = 10 tens
= 1 hundreds 0 tens
(Write 1 in the hundreds place value and 0 in the tens place value)
Add the hundreds:
7 hundreds + 1 hundreds = 8 hundreds
2. Complete the number sentence:
734 + 69 = 803
